This project will allow students to apply the techniques and skills necessary to carry out the tasks mentioned above. In addition, they will have to demonstrate both autonomy and collaboration, working independently and reliably on specific aspects that will be shared in the course of the project.

The course will be 80% practice oriented. That said, some questions will arise during the creative process that merit consideration.

A more theoretical aspect of the course: the dissection of important 20th century and contemporary works and the highlighting of their singularities. We will listen to productions and pieces in order to talk about them and understand the technical, scenographic, political, historical or creative process of it, leading to a reflection on writing over time. We will discuss the place of women and minorities in the field of contemporary music, predominantly white and male.

The same questions will be applied to the performance: we will watch videos, dissect a show to analyze the device and its challenges and think about a performance as a whole.

Topics related to administration in a musical practice will also come into play: the question of remuneration and contracts, copyrights, musical synchronization, film or commercial music, etc.

Existing in the contemporary musical world is not limited to making music. It is important to approach and discuss the different constituent aspects of it, whether performative, social, media, commercial, political or technical.

In a few points:

- Mutual aid, listening and exchange

- Understanding of current digital sound software but also the tools social

- The broadest possible understanding of musical instruments (synth, drum machine, DAW sequencer systems, etc.)

goals

- Promote interdisciplinary collaborative work

- Horizontalize practices

- Promote the acquisition of new knowledge and new learning methods

- Prepare students for the multidisciplinary and multi-task reality of the field

- Learn to use existing resources

The objective of the course is the group production of an audio compilation in the form of an audio cassette and a digital medium, bandcamp.

A student who applies for sound creation will be able to talk about their possible musical background, their musical interests – regardless of style or genre –, their knowledge of an instrument and musical production. That said, no musical knowledge is required to take this course. Emphasis is placed on the ability to take a place within a group and a project.

Indeed, beyond purely sound creation, this project touches on various aspects allowing students from different centers to intervene at different levels, depending on their skills:

- The design of the cassette or digital medium

- Setting up the bandcamp account

- The narrative construction of the compilation and the creation of titles

- Writing a presentation / press kit

- Participation in workshops

- Project management with structures outside the school (production of the cassette)

- Management of a schedule with deadlines

- Budget management

- Setting up a live performance

- Invitation and communication with an external audience
