As both an art and a narrative centre, the workshop will attempt to reconcile learning specific to photographic tools with the need to rethink and transgress the limits and canons that mark out this medium. The aim is to encourage photography students to adopt a pedagogical approach in which the community has meaning, and to develop new ways of producing and using images.
Contemporary use of the photographic medium brings together chemical and digital processes, and the appropriation and circulation of images, to create new dialectical dimensions. The versatility of the photographic tool is explored as a means of processing both the real and the imaginary. Through a series of exercises and projects, students will develop a range of photographic styles and explore production methods.
