The course will present key concepts of different historical theoretical currents dealing with media cultures and communication, by relating them to current approaches taking into account both social and technological developments and those of research.

Media history and theory. Links between media, cultural, economic and social organization systems. Information and culture, place and issue of power. Media-cultures and cultural studies. News of the sociology of social stratifications. Social interactions and communication. For an anthropology of communication.

Provide students with material to think about their relationship to media, information and culture in the contemporary world.

To identify the processes of communication and production of meaning with regard to current studies on economic and social structures.

Master the concepts, histories and vocabularies of theoretical currents and be able to articulate them with current, personal or historical examples.
