Inclusive teaching at Erg
De erg
Are you a (future) erg student with a disability, disabling condition or learning disability?
Erg can offer you a support plan adapted to your profile and to the specific difficulties you are likely to encounter during your course at Erg.
Erg ensures that you are offered an individualized plan that allows us to offer inclusive higher education to all, i.e. an education that implements devices aimed at eliminating or reducing the material, pedagogical, cultural, social and psychological barriers encountered in accessing studies, in the course of studies and in the socio-professional integration of the beneficiary students.
Inclusive higher education is implemented at Erg in accordance with the decree of January 30, 2014.
Sommaire
And concretely
Concretely, any medical situation can be taken into account for the granting of the status of student beneficiary of the provisions of the decree on inclusive higher education. As an example, it may be a psychological, physiological or anatomical deficiency, a temporary or permanent disability, an attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, dyslexia, dyspraxia, dysphasia and any other "dys" disorder, a chronic illness but also a visual or hearing deficit.
Once you have been granted student beneficiary status, an individualized support plan (PAI) will be drawn up by the reception and support service (SAA) in consultation with the student.
This plan may include reasonable accommodations of various kinds:
- Pedagogical (adapted course materials and notes, course load, monitoring of lessons, acquisition of a learning method, adapted evaluations, etc.),
- Material (access to premises, practical and artistic courses, etc.),
- Medical (access to care, etc.),
- Social and cultural (relationship with others, environment, etc.)
- Psychological (assessment, intervention, etc.).
This plan may also include the possibility of another Erg student being trained to become involved in your individualized support plan to accompany you.
Getting your situation recognized
The reception and support service
Before submitting any request for reasonable accommodation, it is advisable to contact the reception and support service (SAA) in order to obtain all the information and advice required to submit the request. The SAA is bound by confidentiality regarding all information and documents that will be transmitted to it. If you are recognized as a student beneficiary, the SAA will define with you the reasonable accommodations to be put in place, will ensure the effective implementation of your PAI and will evaluate on an ongoing basis the realization and the adequacy of this PAI with your needs.
Submitting your request
To submit your request, you must fill out the request for reasonable accommodation form (see below) and attach the necessary documents.
This application must be submitted to the SAA no later than :
- November 15, for the 1st quadrennium,
- March 15, for the 2nd quadrennium.
Requests submitted after these dates will only be considered if they are duly justified.
However, we advise you to submit your request as soon as possible in order to be able to set up your PAI with peace of mind in the event that your status as a student beneficiary is recognized.
Documents to be provided
In order for your situation to be recognized and for you to be able to benefit from the most appropriate reasonable accommodations, it is necessary to provide the following documents with your application
- Either, the decision of a public organization responsible for the integration of people with disabilities (AViQ, PHARE, etc.),
- Or, a detailed report on the level of autonomy (i.e. the ability to govern oneself, the ability to judge and the freedom to act) of the applicant within the Erg established by a specialist in the medical field or by a multidisciplinary team dating back to less than one year at the time of the request.
For your information, if you received reasonable accommodations during high school, you are required to provide a decision from your high school detailing the reasonable accommodations you received during your schooling.
This document(s) must be sufficiently detailed to best understand your situation and the needs you may have for higher education in the arts. The SAA is at your disposal to help you prepare your application.
