Drawing (BA)

De erg

Teacher : Raphaël Van Lerberghe

Bachelor 1, 2 & 3

Starting from technical exercises defined by “subjects”, such as drawing under duress or drawing words and the word in the drawing, the student outlines an artistic position and defines the premises of a personal project.

In the workshop, the content of the course is organized using a series of thematic shifters and technical exercises with which the student develops a set of practical and theoretical tools. Tools allowing him to outline an artistic position and to define the premises of a personal project. Working in conjunction with exhibitions, editorial and circumstantial news (guest artists, etc.), the content of the course is defined as these meetings take place. Students respond in a personal way to the proposed work contexts, technical learning is differentiated. The problems of presentation (hanging, installation, relation to the place) are approached with each proposal in an individual and collective way.

goals

The objective is to experiment with drawing practices and to discover the issues involved, particularly in contemporary art. Encourage critical thinking and set criteria to allow it. Overall, the course aims to provide the means to develop an artistic practice in drawing or in other mediums likely to be connected to the references and questions of drawing today.

Development of a methodology for individual and/or collective experimentation and research. Acquisition of tools aimed at autonomy in artistic practice. Confrontations with different drawing procedures and modes of representation. Development of an ability to mediate these contemporary drawing practices.
