Crossed narratives

How does each person weave his or her own threads into a collective weave? This workshop explores what happens to an individual narrative when it is brought into play in a collective creative process.

The attempt begins with the oral transmission of an experience between two people. One tells, the other listens. Each person in turn becomes the other's witness, taking care of the words entrusted to them. In the wider group, each member transmits the memory of another's story, while at the same time dispossessing himself of his own.

These exchanges form the first wefts of a fabric in the making. The members of the group seize upon the shared traces and attempt to elaborate one or more artistic gestures. At the same time, they work together to decide on the modalities and purpose of their collaboration.
