Alexander Schellow

De erg

enseignant en Animation.

Alexander Schellow deals closely with relations between space, perception and action at the junction between an artistic and scientific research. Since 1999, he has been working on reconstruction processes from memory, based on an ongoing daily drawing practice, which generated various formats of drawings, animations / films, archives, installations, readings, performances and texts.

His works, partially developed within collectives such as ARG or GREYZONE ZEBRA have been distributed internationally in screenings, as interventions, lectures and installations, recently a.o. @ ICA gallery Sofia, Khiasma Paris, FID Marseille, BOZAR and WIELS Brussels, the Biannials of Mechelen, Casablanca, Taipei and Lyon, ANMASIVO Mexico City or IZIKO Museum Cape Town.

An important fundament of his practice lies within cooperations with researchers and artists from various fields : amongst others with the stage director Claudia Bosse (various projects, theatercombinat), with the choreographer Philipp Gehmacher (series “walk+talk”), with the linguist Klaus von Heusinger (reseach project “Memory and meaning” in the group “language sciences and cognition” of the University of Stuttgart) or with the philosopher Catherine Perret (a.o. „Animation“ - Centre de recherche sur l'art, philosophie, esthétique (CRéART - PHI) at Paris X).

Schellow was resident fellow of the Akademie Schloss Solitude and awarded the Pechstein scholarship. Between 2010 and 2012 he worked as a Senior Fellow at the Zukunftskolleg of the University of Konstanz.

Since 2007, Alexander Schellow has been regularly teaching at universities a.o. in London, Paris, Tirana, Singapore, Mexico City and Athens and joins since 2013 ERG's department of ANIMATION and time-based practices.
