Sculpture is an individual or collective discipline bringing together a diversity of practices, a heterogeneous and polymorphic discipline, resolutely turned towards an art in space.

Practices as diverse as those of the image (photo, video, cinema...), digital arts, performance, light, sound, graphic or pictorial intervention, publishing, matter… can be considered by the student who connects them to his practice as a sculptor.

The course considers sculpture in its plurality, as much on a technical level and through a reflection on the use of materials as on a poetic, historical, ecological level, with regard to our topicality and project. That sculpture manifests itself in the form of an object (shaped or sampled), a structure, a series of disparate elements, machinery (high-tech or DIY), a sound installation and /or visual, of an architecture, an atmospheric environment, a virtual space, a posture, a base, the residue of an act, the trace of a gesture, the imprint of an event, etc., the sculpture is considered as the result of a thought, an attitude and a search, a creative process linked to the gesture -manual or mechanical- of which it holds the energy and the memory.

An “object” does not exist alone. It is part of a story read through the prism of the artist and in the space where it unfolds. It is also considered as much as a form as a gesture, it is as much a social space as an architectonic one. The sculpture, fundamentally, works on a relationship to the ground, to gravity, to weight and this including, of course, the lightest gestures possible. This gravity, this attraction can be seen as its drama and it is this drama, this story that deafens and innervates the objects that will be worked on. Just to give it a body, just to make “something” out of it, because this gravity is what keeps us all in this space.
