The BàG (Boîte à Gants) is a project that aims to limit the loss of materials within the erg and to revalue them as raw material.
This project is carried out by and for the students of the school in a perspective of access to materials necessary for artistic creation. The BàG will take the form of a storage room in which will be stored various materials such as wood boards, MDF or OSB, glass, metal as well as plaster etc...
In short, the goal is to meet the real demand of the students by making available the raw materials they need. These elements will be selected according to their condition and sorted by material and listed on the BàG website. A resale price will be assigned to them and they will be available to people who studied at the erg, even after graduation.
The BàG is part of the Erg's Student Circle Association and membership in the association will be required to access its products.
Students will not only be able to purchase materials, but also sell them at the BàG if they meet the project's charter criteria.
Source of materials
Materials have three possible sources and three corresponding roles will be assigned:
The first source is the surplus of the companies. The persons in charge of "company contacts" are in charge of establishing a link between the school and companies that may have materials that interest us. The goal is to establish a long-term relationship between the two establishments in order to have a regular supply.
Another group of students will be responsible for hunting for materials directly on the street. To facilitate this operation, the BàG website will feature a page dedicated to locating dumpsters or other abandoned objects. Anyone can post a photo of these materials with a location.
The final source of materials is the school itself. Gleaners" will be designated to identify abandoned objects in the workshops. The process is simple: they will place a bill with a date on the potentially abandoned items. If the bill is not removed before the date indicated, the object will join the stock of the BàG.
WHY?
The reasoning behind this project is simple; firstly, it stems from the fact that we all have a real need for materials at the erg. Most of the students collect salvaged objects in a personal way. But these materials sometimes remain unused: they occupy precious space and quickly become invasive. By centralizing the stock of materials and having a collective collection, the materials have a better chance of finding a taker and these objects do not become cumbersome wrecks.
