The first year is organised in conjunction with the graphic design course. Students tackle both the micro level (letters, symbols, character design) and the macro level (words, text, layout). Short, interconnected exercises, supported by documented presentations, enable students to acquire a solid foundation while developing their analytical skills. The first term is devoted to signs; the second to text in context.
BAC 2 & 3 In Bachelor 2 and 3, the workshop deepens editorial practice and encourages the affirmation of a personal approach. Each project involves reflection on typographic choices, format, grid, structure and materiality. The analysis of works and the study of composition rules enable students to understand their logic in order to better appropriate and transform them. Experimentation also extends to other media—installation, objects, textiles, projection, spatial design—in order to broaden the scope of typography. Gradually, students gain autonomy and develop projects rooted in their own interests, in dialogue with theoretical and practical courses, thus preparing them for the possibility of pursuing a Master's degree. -- We invite students who wish to further their practice of letter drawing to take the technical course in Character Design taught by Ludivine Loiseau.
