Photography (BA)

De erg

Teachers : Antoine Meyer, Anne Marquet & Fabian Flückiger

In both art and narrative, this workshop will attempt to reconcile learning the tools of photography with the need to rethink and push back the limits and canons of the medium. The aim is to explore the field of photography as an art form, inviting students to cultivate an approach that is at once curious, transgressive and forward-looking. The contemporary practice of photography brings together chemical and digital processes, as well as the appropriation and circulation of images. Each student will experiment with their complexity as pragmatic recordings of the world, as well as products of subjectivity and theatricality.

From the modernity of a "shot", to the advent of "data" and its code, embedded in surveillance, machine intelligence or generative antagonistic networks; we will be attentive to these dialectics of the image as artifact and potential work. The photography workshop is intended to be a place where students apprehend and participate in a pedagogy where collectivity makes sense. The proposal is to bring together the Bac 2 and 3 years, in a working group where different contributors will support the singularity of each student's trajectory.

Bac 1

with Antoine Meyer

The first year consists of experimenting with relationships to reality in different contexts and using different image production tools. The aim is not only to engage in photographic practice, but also to desacralize it. In addition to the technical skills required, the program cultivates a sense of curiosity and critical thinking.

Bac 2 & 3

with Fabian Flückiger, Anne Marquet, Antoine Meyer

During the 2nd and 3rd year of the Bachelor's program, the aim is to develop research, sustained and extensive image practice, in order to produce personal projects and the prospect of their finalization. Various contributors will support each student in his or her realizations, which will be linked to collective experiences, confrontations with other media, and aesthetic reflection constituted of critical tools in the making.
