Teacher : Raphaël Van Lerberghe

Starting with technical exercises defined by "subjects", such as drawing under constraint or drawing words and the word in drawing, students sketch out an artistic position and define the premises of a personal project.

The aim is to experiment with drawing practices and discover the issues involved, particularly in contemporary art. Overall, the course aims to provide the means to develop an artistic practice in drawing or in other media likely to be connected to the references and questionings of drawing. The course content is organized around six clutches and a few technical exercises, enabling students to develop a set of practical and theoretical tools. These tools enable students to sketch out an artistic position and define the premises of a personal project. Working in connection with exhibitions, editorial and circumstantial news, the entire content is not defined in advance. Students respond to themes in their own way, and technical details are differentiated. Problems of presentation (hanging, installation, relationship to the site) are addressed with each proposal.
