Maryia Kamarova is an interdisciplinary artist whose practice is situated on the borders of performing arts, scenography, sound and installation art. She is interested in creating spatial settings that foster a sense of curiosity and attention toward everydayness. By staging and repurposing commonplace objects and technology, Kamarova's works emphasize material agency and creative capacities of the nonhuman world. She performed internationally in Europe and overseas at Archipel, Rewire, Reveil, Sonic Acts, Lisboa Soa and others. She is a co-founder of PYL collective and is a member of the Q-O2 art team in Brussels.
For the session, Maryia will bring some of her self-made instruments, to play with them and to speak about the process of creation, from both technical and personal point of view. Through hands-on experiments, participants will experiment with using audio recording equipment as actors and scenography in live performance context.
