TIRANA [cartes et paysages]
 


Suite au workshop organisé à Tirana (Albanie) en mars-avril 2015 - une collaboration entre l'erg et l'Epoka University de Tirana -, dirigé par Alexander Schellow (erg) et Stefanie Bräuer (Universität Basel), l'exposition TIRANA [cartes et paysages] se tiendra à la galerie de l'erg 50°49'19.50N 4°21'25.53E du 16 décembre 2015 au 8 janvier 2016. Un premier chapitre de l'exposition fut présenté au Centre Culturel Tulla, Tirana en avril 2015.

Poursuivant un travail d'exploration et de confrontation avec les politiques d’aménagement de l’espace dans l’Albanie contemporaine initié par Alexander Schellow en collaboration avec TiranaNorth_trajectories (projet réalisé en 2009 pour TICAB - Biennale d’Art Contemporain de Tirana) et prolongeant les questions abordées lors de la rencontre organisée par l'erg à WIELS avec Anri Sala (artiste albanais, vit à Berlin), Edi Rama (ancien Maire de Tirana, actuel Premier Ministre albanais) et Catherine Perret (philosophe et professeur d’esthétique à l’Université Paris 8), l'exposition TIRANA [cartes et paysages] présente un ensemble de propositions d'étudiants de l'erg (Bruxelles) et de Epoka University (Tirana). C’est une expérimentation artistique et pédagogique : entre planification urbaine et techniques d’animation, entre processus individuels et collectifs et enfin, entre politique de l’espace et pratiques artistiques.   

L’exposition TIRANA [cartes et paysages] est basée sur un workshop organisé au sein du département cinéma d’animation de l’erg. Neuf étudiants de l’erg furent invités à collaborer, à Tirana, avec des étudiants albanais en architecture et urbanisme. Le lieu prédéfini était un terrain vide au beau milieu de la ville, cristallisant certaines questions pressantes (politiques, sociales et esthétiques) en termes de répartition géographique, non seulement à Tirana, mais dans le contexte global de l’Albanie contemporaine. Comment une seule personne (artiste/étudiant) peut-elle se positionner dans un contexte aussi complexe ? Comment une pratique artistique spécifique peut-elle réagir à un tel déplacement ? Ces questions furent au coeur de cette expérience, une vision fugace de ce que l’exposition tend à reconstruire à travers une série de vidéos, animations, cartes, dessins et installations.

TIRANA [maps and landscapes]


Following the workshop organized in Tirana (Albania) in March-April 2015 - a collaboration between erg and Epoka University of Tirana - , directed by Alexander Schellow (erg) and Stefanie Bräuer (Universität Basel), the exhibition TIRANA [maps and landscapes] will take place at erg’s gallery 50°49'19.50N 4°21'25.53E from December 16th, 2015 until January 8th, 2016. A first chapter was realized in Tulla Culture Center, Tirana ' in April 2015.

Continuing a work of exploration and confrontation with the politics of spatial relations in contemporary Albania initiated by Alexander Schellow in the frame of TiranaNorth_trajectories (a project produced in 2009 for the TICAB - Tirana International contemporary Art Biennale) and extending the issues raised at WIELS during a conversation organized by erg with Anri Sala (Artist from Albania, lives in Berlin), Edi Rama (at the time Major of Tirana, now Prime Minister of Albania) and Catherine Perret (Philosopher and Professor of Aesthetics at Univerity Paris 8), the exhibition TIRANA [maps and landscapes]  presents a set of propositions from erg and Epoka University’s students. It is an experiment, artistically and pedagogically : between urban planning and animation approaches, between individual and collective processes, finally between frameworks of spatial politics and artistic practices.
   

TIRANA [maps and landscapes] is based on a workshop within the practice of erg’s department cinema d’animation. Nine erg's students were invited to collaborate in Tirana with Albanian students in architecture and urban planning. The site for the processes was predefined : a large empty field in the very middle of the city, that was and is crystallizing some of the very urgent political/social/aesthetic questions of spatial distribution not only in Tirana but in fact relating to the larger frame of contemporary Albania. How could one (an artist/student) possibly position oneself within such complex context ? How can specific artistic practices react to and within such a displacement ? Those questions were at the core of the experience, a glimpse of which the exhibition aims to reconstruct in a constellation of videos, animations, maps, drawings and installations.
