Illustration - Comics (MA)

De erg

Teachers: Dominique Goblet, Mathilde Van Gheluwe

The course involves the analyses and critiques of each student’s personal work. This narrative as well as iconographic analysis probes the inventiveness, understanding and awareness of narrative challenges while developing a global awareness of the medium through learning older as well as contemporary comics/illustration works. In this context, every student is asked to give a weekly presentation of a work that they find interesting in order to foster transmission.

In the Master's program, each student's personal work is monitored, analyzed and critiqued on a weekly basis. This analysis, both narrative and iconographic, assesses the student's inventiveness, understanding and awareness of the issues, tools and personal proposals at stake. The courses also aim to encourage emulation within the class in order to develop a global awareness of the medium through (re)acquaintance with both past and contemporary works of comics/illustration.

Although comics and illustration are two different orientations, the courses are taught together.
